Video Surveillance Annual Report
There were 45,817 incidents captured on video surveillance cameras in Panama city.
The Operations Center for Citizen Security (COSC) of the Mayor’s Office of Panama completed one year of operation on October 23. During this period a total of 45,817 incidents were reported.
The 10 largest incidents are the ones that relate to the relocation of people who spend the night on the streets, badly parked vehicles, illegal commerce, disruption of public order, theft and those who loiter on the streets or in public spaces.
This was announced on Wednesday, October 31 by the mayor of the capital city, José Isabel Blandón, who explained that within the trades registered until October, 520 worked together with entities such as the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Ministry of Government, of Traffic and Land Transportation, Ministry of Government, among others.
In addition, work from the center is done in conjunction with the National Police, the Panama Fire Department, the National Civil Protection System, Urban and Domiciliary Cleaning Authority, Transit Authority and private sectors.
The project covers 14 areas: Bella Vista, San Felipe, Santa Ana, Calidonia, Betania, Curundú, El Chorrillo, Ancon, Juan Diaz, Tocumen, Lefevre Park, Pueblo Nuevo, Pacora and San Francisco.
The project is managed by 60 operators, who work in shifts every day, 24 hours a day.
