5.8 Earthquake shakes Chiriqui

An Earthquake was reported at 6:14 am Thursday November 1st in the province of Chiriqui.

According to reports there are no injuries or material damage following the natural event. The earthquake was reported by the National System of Civil Protection (Sinaproc) this morning. The statement issued by Sinaproc stated that the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.9 with the epicenter located in the town of Puertos Armuelles, in the district of Barú, province of Chiriquí.

According to the assessments, the quake was recorded at a depth of 16.2 kilometers, which is why it is considered superficial. Despite this, the tremor was felt in several towns in the province of Chiriqui, including the city of David, where many people were awoken by  the shaking.
