Panama defeated in Concacaf Women’s Championship

October 7th 2018 Panama took on the The U.S. Women’s National Team following a big win against Nicaragua. Sunday did not bring the same luck for the isthmus as the U.S. team easily defeated Panama 5-0 with American Carli Loyd scoring her first hat-trick since 2016.

The U.S. out short Panama 16- 0 in the first half and 19-4 in the second giving Panama’s goalkeeper a run for her money. Yenith Bailey had 12 saves some of which were very impressive.

This year the Panamanian women opened the 2018 Concacaf Women’s Championship on Oct. 4 with an upset victory against Trinidad & Tobago, the victory was just the second for Panama in the history of the Concacaf Women’s Championship. Panama won 4-0 against Nicaragua on two and continued to beat El Salvador, 6-2.

2018 is the third time Panama has competed in the CWC, and this will be the second meeting with the USA in the tournament.
