Louisiana Murder Suspect arrested in Panama
A statement was issued Saturday by a Louisiana state sheriff stating that suspect Saleh Omar was arrested in Panama for his alleged involvement in the Terrytown slaying.
The New Orleans Advocate reported that Sheriff Joseph Lopinto says 40-year-old Saleh Omar, of Terrytown, has been charged with second-degree murder.
The incident took place Sept. 8 in a vacant store where a 29-year-old man was found asphyxiated by strangulation.
Officials say Omar fled the U.S. following the death of this man with another suspect, his 17-year-old brother Tazan Omar who has also been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
After being detained in Panama City, Panama, Saleh was extradited to Miami, Florida, where he will be awaiting further extradition to his home state.
