National Hemocenter gets a Board
President, Juan Carlos Varela, signed Executive Decree 357 nf September 20, 2018, by which he appointed the members of the Board of Directors for the National Hemocenter.
Law 31 of May 30, 2018 establishes that it will be integrated by the Minister of Health or his representative; who will preside over it; the director of the Social Security Fund (or his representative); a representative of the Panamanian Association of Private Hospitals; a representative of the Panamanian Society of Hematology and the Panamanian Association of Transfusion Medicine, in alternate form; a representative of the National Association of Clinical Laboratories of Panama; a representative of Fundacáncer; a representative of the National Federation of Associations of Patients with Critical, Chronic and Degenerative Diseases; a representative of the Gorgas Memorial Institute and a representative of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Panama.
Article 7 of Law 31 of 2018 provides that the principal and alternate employers, with the exception of the Minister of Health and the director of the CSS, shall be appointed by the Executive Body for a period of five years, from the lists proposed by each association. .
The designations as principal and alternate members of the board of directors of the board are the following:

The idea of creating a board is to gather, in a single legal instrument, everything concerning blood services, with an efficient model, to ensure the population equitable access and adopt technological advances to capture, process, store and distribute the blood and its blood components.
