Fatalities in Chiriqui landslide

Two dead and three people were injured due to landslide at Cerro Punta, Chiriqui.

The two fatalities were a 63 year old and a child of 12 years old.  Three people were also wounded in the landslide that devastated a house in Bajo Grande, a village in Cerro Punta, in the province of Chiriqui.

The Joint Task Force (FTC) reported that after midnight the search efforts of the 12-year-old girl who was missing were ongoing but her death was confirmed . In the morning hours.

Personnel from the National Police, Panama Fire Department, National Aeronaval Service and Sinaproc participated in the search.

Sinaproc reiterated that a rain prevention warning is in force. Thus, light to moderate rains are expected in Veraguas, Chiriquí (high and lowlands) and for  Bocas del Toro.

José Donderis, general director of Sinaproc, says that FTC personnel were sent to  Chiriqui and Bocas del Toro to assess areas vulnerable to landslides and floods.
