American sex offender arrested

79-year-old, Alan Handt, an American citizen wanted in the US for sexual abuse of minors, has been arrested in Boquete Panama.

Handt was detained in Boquete, Chiriqui on Friday, February 23rd, 2018 and has been apprehended following an intelligence operation by the National Police of Panama according to El Siglo. 

Authorities report that the accused was detained for violating Article 50 of the Panama Migration Law. This law states foreigners may be denied entry or transit through the country, as well as have a visa revoked if the person has a criminal record in the country of origin.

Handt has been moved to the National Immigration Service and will wait behind bars until his deportation to the US. Once he arrived in the US he will face the criminal charges.
