Families homeless after Casco fire

A devastating fire took the homes of 55 families in Casco Wednesday, February 21nd at around 11:45 am.

Three buildings were affected all surrounding Plaza Herrera, one of which was the historic Boyaca building, dating to 1890.

Firefighters struggled to control the fire. A couple of things that hampered their ability to do their job were illegally parked cars and low water pressure. To combat the flames firefighters required a water truck extinguish the blaze and the help of the National police to removed the parked cars.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire that leaves many Casco families homeless.
