Central American countries and South Korea to sign FTA
Diana Salazar The Deputy Minister of Trade Negotiations for Panama will be in South Korea to sign a free trade agreement (FTA).
The Panamanian Deputy arrives Wednesday in South Korea where Latin American countries will meet to sign with the Asian country. While the negotiations were finalized in November of 2016 (beginning in June of 2015), the signing of the agreement between the parties is just taking place now.
signing of a document will cement the agreement which will "play an important role in the promotion of trade and investment while improving existing economic relations."
The FTA will be signed in Seoul Wednesday, February 21st, 2018. The governments that will be at the event to sign the document are the governments of Panama, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Costa Rica.
Salazar explains that the FTA aims to "deepen trade and economic relations" and "boost the export of services while attracting investments".
"Panama will obtain preferential access to commercialize agricultural and marine products in South Korea" which in turn will present an offer of high-tech products," the deputy told news sources.While in South Korea Salazar will present the "competitive advantages of investing in Panama", highlighting points like Panama’s geographical location and available facilities with the goal of becoming a strategic distribution point for South Korean products.
South Korea is one of the countries technologically advanced counties in the world.
