Promotions in the Police Department

Yesterday, A total of 3,885 uniformed National Police officers received a promotion to their immediate superior rank after undergoing technical evaluations. The promotions consisted of 1 commissioner, 6 sub-commissioners, 40 majors, 123 captains, 338 lieutenants and 749 sub-lieutenants.

The president of the Republic Juan Carlos Varela, was present at the ceremony and  said that with the promotion of the uniformed "goes beyond the recognition of the services they provide to the nation to reaffirm the commitment to protect and serve the country" .

Similarly, the president said he will provide all the necessary elements and resources to members of the public forces to carry out their duties.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Security, Alexis Bethancourt; Secretary of the Security Council, Rolando López and other directors of different entities of the country’s public security force.
