Equal pay for men and women in Panama

Equal pay between men and women will be the focus at regional meetings being hosted by Panama from January 29th to the 31st. It was reported the Foreign Ministry, the meetings would take place after the launch of the global coalition of equal pay.

According to information presented Foreign Ministry of Panama Panama is the only country in Latin America and the Caribbean that is part of the global initiative for equal pay. 
"We seek, along with other global leaders, to work on policies on a national level that promote equal pay for men and women," the Foreign Ministry said in a statemen. However, it was not stated specify who would attend the international event.

The International Coalition on Equality of Compensation (EPIC) was constituted within the framework of the General Assembly of Nations held in September 2017, and is led by the International Labor Organization (ILO), UN Women and the Organization for Cooperation and Economic Development (OECD).

It is a multi-stakeholder alliance with a view to contributing to the achievement of one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): equal remuneration between women and men for work of equal value, according to the data of the ILO
