Sinaproc workers attacked

Two rescuers of the National System of Civil Protection (Sinaproc) were attacked, on Sunday afternoon, with sticks and bottles by some of the residents of San Antonio Rural, in the San Miguelito district.

According to sources residents wanted "immediate delivery" of appliances and mattresses. This was confirmed by the director general of Sinaproc, José Donderis, who is presenting a complaint to the authorities against the aggressors.  

The residents of San Antonio Rural were affected by the overflow of a ravine due to heavy rains on Sunday.

Once they arrived at the site, Sinaproc officials proceeded to carry out the assessments of the affected houses.

The residents got aggressive and wanted immediate help. "The rescuers, when trying to leave the area, where attacked.  They were able to take refuge with the help of a family until police arrived.  Sinaproc said in a statement.

The two rescuers were transferred to a health center due to wounds on the face, legs, and abdomen.
