326 apprehended on drug charges in 2017
According to a recent report by the National Police, 326 people, including foreigners, have been apprehended for selling drugs in Panama so far in 2017.
Of these, 279 were captured in "preventive actions" carried out by members of the National Directorate of Anti-narcotics of the Police together with officials of the Public Ministry.
To date, the police said, they carried out 353 search and intelligence operations that resulted in the confiscation of 19,825 kilos of drugs, including cocaine, heroin and marijuana.
"We will not allow these citizens dedicated to this illicit activity to harm our young people, who are the future of the country," said the director of the National Police, Omar Pinzón.
