18 medical staff injured in Coclé crash

A bus carrying 24 medical staff from the ministry of health overturned in Coclé at around 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 13th.

Eighteen personnel including doctors, dentists nurses and technicians have suffered injuries from the crash. 

Two women among the injured were reported to be in critical condition. The women were treated at Aquilino Tejeira Hospital in Penonomé, and then one of the two women was transferred to the Social Security Fund (CSS) Hospital in Panama City while the other went to the Regional Hospital Rafael Estevéz de Aguadulce.

The accident occurred when the bus hit a retaining wall on a curve, near a bridge in  Cascajal, in the  La Pintada district. This has been the scene for a number of accidents over the years.
