The SMV of Panama presents stock market results for 2016

The Superintendencia del Mercado de Valores (SMV), in English Superintendency of the Stock Market, presented the 2016 report on the stock market Thursday April 27th 2017.

 The superintendent, Marelissa Quintero de Stanziola, also presented the market results corresponding to last year. The previous SMV report indicated that transactions in the Panamanian financial market have fell 10% in the third quarter of 2015, when they reached 48.661 billion dollars, compared to the same period of the previous year, according to Quintero.

Press were in attendance to hear the superintendent address the situation. In her speech  Quintero de Stanziola explaind the fall is due to the fall of the international financial market, in which the registered houses of securities in Panama negotiated about 40 billion dollars.

In 2016 the superintendency investigated the stock market division of the Panamanian firm Mossack & Fonseca ( the Panama Papers scandal).
