Canada participates in Panama Canal training

Canadian military personnel took part in the US-sponsored Panama Canal drills known as PANAMAX, from July 29th to August 5th.

The exercises, according to Canada’s Department of National Defense, were in an effort to practice canal traffic protection measures and contribute to the “operational readiness” of the Canadian Armed forces to meet tasks that the Canadian Government will assign.

The practice drills were led by Chile, Colombia and Peru, and sponsored by the US Southern Command. The exercise had a total of 20 participating members.
