Man Returns 10 Winning Lottery Tickets
On Wednesday July 27th, Michael Bulgin a 47 year old Panamanian man from Samaria, a dangerous neighborhood in San Miguelito, returned 15 lottery tickets to the National Police of Panama. 10 of the tickets returned were winning tickets. Each winning ticket was worth $300.
Michael Bulgin told TVN News that found the tickets walking to a nearby convenience store where he was going to buy cheese for breakfast for his older brother who suffers from mental disabilities. Bulgin is the youngest of seven children, originally from Colon.
According to Bulging the tickets belonged to a neighbor who got rid of them not knowing that they had been winners. Being an honest man, when he heard a neighbor was looking for them, he took them to the police.
It was only after returning the tickets did he find out that they were worth $3000, however he insisted that if he did know he would have returned them just the same.
A policeman who visited his residence after the incident was moved by Bulgin honesty. The officer said “I’ve seen great people, but you're the greatest of all.”
Bulgin explained “we must always be honest”, insisting he was by no means a hero, “here in Samaria, there are many honest people" he said.
