Reports of high spending on travel by Panamanian deputies

According to a recent report published in La Prensa, From July 2014 through March deputies spent $297,000 on trips. An article by noticias7dias wrote that $55 thousand of that was spent on one single trip.

Some of the recent reports along with comments on social media are questioning the high expense. Many feel the that the money could be used more wisely.

Destinations travelled to have included Spain, Switzerland, Vietnam, Morocco, the United States, Mexico, Cuba, Argentina, Chile and Colombia.

Not all 71 members have had the opportunity to leave the country.

Those who are on the list of travelers include: Alfredo Pérez, vice president of the Assembly; Gabriel Soto, Katleen Levy and Luis Barría, of the Panameñistas; Rosa Canto, Iracema de Dale and Ausencio Palacios of the PRD and CD members Mariela Vega and Marylin Vallarino.
