Panama takes action against animal abuse

The owner of an 18-month old boxer named Toby recently received a fine of $1000 for animal abuse. The dog, found in critical condition, was taken from the owner and put up for adoption by the Panama Mayoralty. Once he has increased his weight to 30 kilos and increases his hemoglobin leave he will be sterilized and  ready for adoption.

In order to adopt a dog from Animal Welfare one must meet the following requirements:  have a home with  fence, and  a shaded space where the dog can rest without being tied, a copy of an identity card, and a copy water, electricity or phone bill to verify the residence. Adoptees must also sign a legal adoption document with the Municipality of Panama.
