Dust Storms and Strong Winds

Yesterday, Thursday March 24 SINAPROC issued a strong winds alert following dust storms causes by soil that has been loosened by the sever drought. The area most affected was the district of Alanje in Chiriqui, were visibility was reduced to almost due to zero because of the dust.

Windy conditions are expected to continue in the more mountainous regions of Panama including the province of Cocle, Chiriqui and the Gulf of Panama.

Residents explained that severe dust has been an issue since Tuesday March 22. It has caused the suspension of  classes  and causes respiratory issues for numerous seniors, many of whom have ended up emergency health centers.
