Arrests Made in Hit and Run

Security minister Rodolfo Aguilera has confirmed at least two people have been arrested in the investigations following the death of Panamanian triathlete Monica Licona.



Licona died Sunday after being hit by a white Kia Rio vehicle with the registration AT5369. The accident occurred on Balboa Avenue. Licona took advantage of the bike path every Sunday from 6:00 am to 12:00 md.

Photos and videos of a man getting out of the car, and a woman removing a box from the trunk and getting into in a taxi, began to circulate on social networks yesterday.

Interior Minister Milton Henriquez, reported yesterday that they had already identified the woman and the driver, and determined that the car involved was a rental. In the afternoon, the MP said that Jaen Cherigo, 27 was the person who rented the vehicle.

On Friday, a person reported to the National Police that there was an attempted robbery in the parking of a commerical plaza in Coronado. The suspects were a young couple traveling in a vehicle with the same specifications (a white Kia).
