Bio Museum Nominated for 'Museum Oscar'

Panama’s Biodiversity Museum,  on the Amador Causeway is one of 30 museums nominated for an award, which will be given on Oct. 9 at a ceremony in London. The Biomuseo is a finalist for the Leading Culture Destinations International Prize

, considered the "Oscars" of museums, in the category of "Best emerging cultural destination."

Among the nominees museums are the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Netherlands; Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, France; Whitworth Gallery in Manchester, England; the Museum of the design in Barcelona, Spain; Sifang Art Museum in Nanjing, China; the Museum Mohammed VI of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rabat, Morocco; or the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum and the Whitney Museum of American Art, both in New York, United States.

Three museums were nominated from Mexico, the Memory and Tolerance Museum, the Great Museum of the Mayan World and the Soumaya Museum. Also nominated from Latin America are the Art Museum of Rio de Janeiro and the New Energy Museum of Contemporary Art in Buenos Aires.
