Beach, Bands and Blue Balls in Coronado
If you are out on the beach in Coronado on a Tuesday or Thursday morning, you may run into a gaggle of people jumping, running, walking in panama fitness, panama beach fitness, panama health, sunwave fitness, natasha lesson cookezig zags and laughing always laughing. This nutty eclectic bunch of people are out enjoying beach fit with Natasha from Sunwave Fitness. I am proud to say I am one of those that wake up early to attend and after each class I know I am a better person because of it. Beach Fit is for everyone. The class attracts people of all ages, shapes, sizes and sex. The great thing is Natasha shows the class the different options of each exercise geared to the individual fit level. For example she will demonstrate the low impact, medium impact and high impact variation of each exercise. We have walkers, joggers and runners. We have jumpers and striders. What is guaranteed is that at the end of each class you will be sweating, you will feel great and you will have done some good to your body.
Structure
Each class starts off with a 5-7 minute warm up under the rancho at Coronado Bay/Solarium. The class then moves to the beach where we run, jump, squat, box, zig zag to the sound of the waves and to the amazing view of the morning sun over the pacific. After approximately 25 minutes of cardio exercise at your own speed and fit level, we move back to do our core exercises which is the part of the class that I hate yet love the results. Natasha uses a variety of fitness accessories to keep it interesting. Who would have thought that a squishy blue ball could make your abdominal muscles scream. The stretchy bands are used for upper body exercises, and of course she has different varieties for the beginner, intermediate or advanced.
Personal Bests
It is always about personal bests. I cannot for the life of me touch my toes. I cannot do 5 pushups without stopping but I am getting better everyday. Some of the attendees have pre-existing aches and pains which Natasha always addresses and ensures caution is taken. For many our aches and pains are diminishing as we strengthen our core. I have noticed an improvement in my posture and others have lost up to 6 lbs in 6 weeks, just by attending 2 classes a week.
When, Where and What to Bring
The Beach Fit class is held on Tuesday and Thursday morning at 7am. The venue is the lower pool area at The Solarium Hotel which is part of Coronado Bay. All you need to bring is some water, a mat and maybe a towel to soak up the sweat. Of course wear comfortable clothing and running shoes if you wish. Beach Fit is followed by Salsa Fit on Tuesdays and Body Sculpt on Thursdays at 9am.
