Panama exhibits coffee in Shanghai

Representatives of eight Panamanian coffee companies will showcase their best products at the 27th International Exhibition of Equipment and Food Services HOTELEX.

The event taking place in Shanghai, China, is a world-class event where the most important buyers of the Asian region meet.

In Panama, coffee beans come from the Elida Estate, La Mula, Finca Lérida, Hi Cofee, Agrícola Geisha, Don Pachi Estate, Barú Volcano and Hacienda La Esmeralda. 

Last year Panama won first place in the online auction XXI Best of Panama 2017, when the Australian of Chinese descent, Jason Kew, of the Kew Specialty Coffee company of Hong Kong set a record by paying $ 601 for a single pound of coffee from Esmeralda Geisha Cañas Verdes Natural, cultivated in the Hacienda La Esmeralda.

The objective of this mission is to promote the quality of Panama’s specialty coffee, mainly to the Asian market, which is becoming the most important market for geisha coffee, said Jorge Suarez, director of exports of the Ministry of Commerce and Industries (MICI).
From the highlands of the province of Chiriquí comes the line of Arabica coffee, a grain that is characterized by a better flavor. Within this type stand out: the typica, bourbon, caturra, catuai, geisha, world novo and pacamara.
