El Galeon Restaurant

An impressive two  story building on the way to Penonome called El Galeon near Santa Clara.  A pleasant surprise in the setting and service, worth checking out!

Setting:
This restaurant has 3 main areas, the front bar facing the gardens which has a large area probably used for parties, etc. On the second floor is the enclosed air conditioned dining room sporting ulphostered funiture, linens and stainless cutlery.  This room is very nicely decorated and has soft latin music playing in the background. Accomodates 50 people.  Adjacent to the top dining room, is the outside patio that is a little more simpler but as inviting and relaxing as the main room.  This space can  also accomodate approx. 50 people.
Parking:
Parking is available at the front as well as at the back which is at the same level of the dining room and patio.
Menu:
They have quite an extensive menu. Appetizers start at $3.25 for a brusheta to $12 for marinated mussels or $20 for their mixed picada. Salads from $4.50 to a shrimp salad for $10.50.  Fish and seafood choices are numerous from Seabass in garlic sauce for $8 to imported salmon gratin at $16.  The also feafure their specialy Paella for 2  at $25, add meat to the dish at a total cost of  $30.  Meat:  chicken filet at $7.75 to a New York Baby Rib platter for $13.75.  Deserts include brownees.  They also have a children's menu.
Beverages:
Sodas, fruit drinks, Beer local and imported - from $1.75 to $3. - Also offer Stella Ardoise for $4.50.
Cocktails are available from $3. to a mojito at $5.
Wine:
Has an extensive collection from Spain, Argentina, Chili.  Prices vary from $4.50 for a glass to a bottle of  Valdivieso Caballo Loco at  $95. a bottle.

Comments:
This restaurant is lovely and is worth the distance, offering a nice ambiance both inside and out.  While we were there a customer was raving about the Salmon and caramelized onions, the best she had ever had! A nice relaxed restaurant to meet with friends for a delightful meal.
