Economy, Insecurity in Panama Political Agenda

newsnviews2.jpgPanama, (Prensa Latina) Economy and insecurity are the issues featuring Thursday in the agenda of the Panamanian presidential campaigns, in line with the main concerns of the population.

Presidential hopefuls Balbina Herrera (Democratic Revolutionary Party), Ricardo Martinelli (Democratic Change) and Juan Carlos Varela (Panameñista) already have teams of experts to draw up their economic proposals.

According to specialized firms, inflation and high cost of living are issues concerning Panamanians.

Varela and Martinelli agree on the need to cut the 2009 budget, for considering it fails to cope with the reality.

As to insecurity, the proposals include prevention, toughening of sanctions, and development of surveillance programs to face crime.
