First EcoFair of El Valle, October 11

This Saturday, El Valle will be host to its first EcoFair. The fair is being organized by a local co-operative to promote green awareness. LA COOPERATIVA EN FORMACION VALLE VERDE, run by Carlos Celis has previously organized street and river clean-up projects with the help of local schools. They are responsible for forming Green Brigades in schools to further a green consciousness. Among the many events taking place at this Saturday’s fair, we will also see the swearing in of newly formed Brigades.   The fair will host ecological exhibitions, videos about global warming, plus there will be baked goods sales from El Valle’s best bakers, plants and other foods and crafts for sale. The evening will culminate with live jazz from Panamanian artists,  Ariel Blanco and Pepe Calvera.

Money from the sales will go towards the purchase of trash cans for the town. Admission to the fair is free. Full listing of events and times below:

ACTIVITIES (held in the parking lot of the Cooperatie Libertad; across from the Gourmet & Coffee Shop):

 

  • 11:00: Fair opening, view our exhibits about our environment, trash awareness, recycling, and more.  PLUS: sales of food (arroz con pollo), and sales of baked goods, plants, and crafts (these will be available all afternoon).
  • 12:00: Presentations and pledging of the first eco brigade of El Valle, CEBG
  • 12:30: Showing of a video about global warming
  • 2:00   Magic and puppet shows in the afternoon.  PLUS: continuation of sales of baked goods, plants, and crafts.
  • 5:00   Continuation of food fair
  • 7:00   Live music with Ariel Blanco and Pepe Calvera (both are Panamanian jazz artisits, composers and singers) (held at the Gourmet & Coffee Shop)
