Tragic Bus Accident in Chame

A traffic accident involving a passenger bus left four people dead this Saturday, April 25, in Colonsito when a bus crossed into the oncoming lane in Chame.

Firefighters reported in a statement that five adults were traveling in the sedan, four of whom died, while the other was taken to receive medical attention.

According to preliminary reports, the fatalities were four people traveling in the sedan: Pastor Benjamin Lopez, approximately 40 years old, his wife, and his two daughters, who lost their lives instantly at the scene.

Preliminary reports indicate that the bus involved in the accident crossed the highway, collided with a sedan, and then crashed into a bus stop.

Emergency units from the districts of Chame and San Carlos arrived at the accident. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact causes of this traffic accident. 

With these four victims, the statistics rise to 26 deaths from traffic accidents in West Panama. In response to the tragedy, voices emerged calling for reflection on road safety, highlighting the need to avoid such tragedies.
