Chame celebrates 170 years

Chame, Panama, celebrated 170 years since its foundation on September 18th, 2025. Chame has eleven “corregimientos,” including Las Lajas and Gorgona.

The Municipality of Chame celebrated with parades and a regional holiday. They wrote:

"We extend special recognition to all the residents of Chame, both men and women, who, through their hard work, traditions, and love for this land, have shaped the history and present of our community. May this anniversary inspire us to continue working together for the well-being and progress of Chame, always preserving the essence that makes us unique."

The full region of Chame covers both mountains and beaches. From Chica, Sorá and Buenos Aires to the Pacific beach areas of Las Lajas, Bejuco, Punta Chame, Nueva Gorgona, El Líbano, Sajalices, Cabuya, and Chame.
