How Chame could be affected by Panama-David Train

The new train will have 14 stations, one of which will be located in the district of Chame, in the province of Panama West. The Pacific Beach community will be one of the most impacted by the train.

Seeking to raise awareness of the project in the communities that will be impacted by the construction and operation of the railway, Manuel Arias, of the Panama Railway Secretariat, participated in the Chame Municipal Council meeting.

The 11 Chame councilors and the mayor of Chame, Francisco León, took part in this meeting, where they took the opportunity to answer questions and learn more about this project.

Manuel Arias, Undersecretary of the Panama Railway, emphasized that the Panama-David train, by connecting 45% of the country’s territory, will boost economic activity.

In addition to the economic impact, the growth of the labor market is another factor. This project is estimated to generate more than 50,000 direct and indirect jobs along the route.

The Panama-David-Frontera train has the potential to become the first segment of a major Central American railway. In Panama’s Pacific Beach communities, these stations mean passenger flow and commercial growth.

The Panama-David train will travel 475 kilometers and will have stations located in Albrook, Ciudad de la Salud, Panama Pacifico, La Chorrera, Chame, Río Hato, Penonomé, Divisa, Santiago, Soná, San Félix, David, Bugaba, and Paso Canoas-Border.
