Coronado Phase 1 & 2 of Development
Coronado, Panama the pioneer development of the Rivera Pacifica recently announced the completion of the initial phase of development.
With several new projects that have already broken ground as part of phase 2, and more underway, expect more options a wide variety of lifestyles on the market. Currently, there are over 5,040 homes constructed and an additional 2,208 lots sold there are a total of 7,248 owners within the Coronado community. There have been four new developments announces along with a road assessment project, and Green Walk Project that will offer extensive green spaces, walking trails, and eco-friendly infrastructure.
Coronado was developed in the 1940’s and today still holds a certain charm that has been here since the beginning. These new projects The unspoiled stretch of the Pacific Ocean, and mature landscape creates a natural environment surrounding a world class golf course, it is unlike any other development in Panama.
Despite being the most developed beach community along the Pacific Coast, beaches and facilities are typically uncrowded in Coronado. With ample green space and preserved natural land, Coronado is home to an ecosystems that have been mindfully developed. With areas like the Dry Forest, which have been preserved, much of the area remain home to a diverse natural world that continues to thrive.
The Ocean in Coronado, is a protected bay for marine life, swimming, surfing and coastal exploration. There are several popular beaches within Coronado including Playa Serena a popular surf beach for families, and the Coronado Private Beach Club offers beachfront amenities for members and their guests.
While Coronado has continued to make lists of the top place to retire in the world, property in Panama is still affordable. Over the past three decades Coronado has developed immensely to add amenities that make it an ideal place to visit. Today Coronado is just 1.5 hours from Panama City’s Tocumen Airport, and a half an hour from Rio Hato Airport which services flights from Canada, through the winter months.

The History of Coronado, Panama
Playa Coronado was founded by Roberto “Bob” Eisenmann in 1941, when the road was just a dirt path and the journey from Panama took around 3 hours. Spanning over 900 hectares, the Coronado community grew, and by 1970 the Coronado Golf Community was founded.
In 1972 the first phase of development in the beach area began in Coronado, During this time projects like the Aprucc Condominiums became the first condos in the area. In 1973, ground broke on the Coronado Beach Golf Club, with a world class 18-hole course designed by Tom and George Fazio.
Phase 1 of Coronado continued in the 90’s with the construction of the iconic Punta Prieta towers, which continues to be one of the most unique condo development in Coronado today due to its location over looking the Pacific Ocean. By 1994, Coronado was booming with development and construction began on the hotel. The Coronado Golf & Beach Resort, as it was called at the time, was a 104 all suite hotel and serviced the area for over two decades.
Today the Coronado Luxury Suites and Hotel continues to function as boutique hotel offering, with 16 rooms. In 2020, the suites were sold to create a turn-key offering for a vacation lifestyle in Coronado.
1994 also brought the Equestrian Club Community, which in it’s infancy hosted top-tier horse riding competitions. Today the Equestrian is also in its second phase of development, with the Paseo Verde community.
