Warning of heavy rains and strong winds in Panama
It is rainy season in Panama, and the first tropical rains have arrived accompanied by strong winds and lightning. The Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama (IMHP) has issued a warning.
The surveillance notice, that remains in force from May 26th 2024 until 11:59 pm this Wednesday, May 29, asks the public be cautions of flooding rivers, falling trees and landslides.

According to the IMHP report the first tropical storm of the year, which is moving from eastern Colombia towards Panama, will cause rains with greater concentration in the provinces of Panama, Colón, Veraguas, Chiriquí and Bocas del Toro.
Precipitation will also be recorded in Darién, Panama Oeste, Colcé and the Emberá region.
The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) asked the population to take precautions against flooding of rivers, streams, falling trees and possible flooding in avenues, communities and landslides.
