Crossing of the Isthmus 2021
The fourth Crossing of the Isthmus 2021 took place this month with a record of 370 cyclists racing the passage from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean.
Colombian Santiago Zapata in the Open category of 0-40, made the crossing of just over 120 kilometers in 4 hours, 49 minutes and 42 seconds.
Panamanian Marcia Barrios, six-time Pan American XCO champion and two-time XCO world champion, exceeded expectations and won the Elite Women category, with a time of 5 hours and 19 minutes.
David “Tinker” Juárez, current Master World Champion, 1995 Pan American Champion and multiple National Enduro Champion, won the Senior Men category 56-99, with a time of 5 hours and 14 minutes.
In the Men’s Elite category, North Americans Justin Holle and Eli Orth occupied the first and second places with a difference of only one minute and 29 seconds, with times of 4 hours, 59 minutes and 28 seconds, and 5 hours and 57 seconds.
