A Huge Thank You from Spay the Strays!

My faithful supporters, Well, we all did it again!  The Spay the Strays Days was held at the request of the Gorgona officials but little did they know what they were getting themselves into!  As always, I knew that I could count on all of you to pull it off and help them.  In two days, with the work of 6 vets, we neutered 239 animals.  That makes a total of 602 animals operated on during 2008!!  In general, we noticed that the animals were in better health than before.  We performed two euthanasias but that was really for the best.  First, Mike and his son Max witnessed a car hit a dog and break its spinal cord.  Second, Sheila and I picked a dog up off the highway near Chame that had an eyeball out and a broken back leg. The good news is that these instances are more rare than they were two years ago.  Fewer and fewer unwanted animals are roaming around now.  Jill and Jamuna worked feverishly to trap the feral cats that are becoming more and more of a problem in Coronado. And a few of the beach dogs and mountain dogs were rounded up as well.  So you should all feel justifiably proud of your accomplishments!

Thank you,
Mary Rhodes, Terry Phipps, Sheila Scott, Jill Parodi, Kathy Kress, and Jamuna Burry of Spay the Strays
