What to do if you are in a car accident in Panama

If you are in a car accident driving in Panama, your vehicle cannot move. Stay where you are and call 311. You should also call you insurance company, and indicate if you require an ambulance.

Wait for the inspector of the insurance company to arrive. You must provide the following information:

• Driver’s driver’s license. 

• Traffic citation ticket.

• Accident report.

• Mechanic selection letter. 

• If you requested a tow truck, specify the place where you want to take the vehicle.

Coordinate with the selected mechanic an inspection, and identification of the required repairs.

It is important to note that the estimate must be in the name of the insurance company in order to obtain a quote for the damages.
