2019 National Beach, Coasts and Rivers cleanup Sept 29
September 29th 2019 is the ’XXVIII Gran limpieza de Playas, Costas y Ríos’ in Panama. The event is a nation wide clean up organized ANCON the National Association for Conversation & others.
The great cleanup aims to not only remove waste from the countries beaches rivers and coasts it also works to collect data. By understanding the type of waste that is most commonly found washed up on our shores, the hope is that we can work towards educating and raising awareness about these items, and the need to dispose of them responsibly.
Each year the event is supported by hundreds of volunteers who take to the coasts to clean up about 50 locations around Panama. While these locations and coordinators for each locations have not been announced, we have been in contact with ANCON to find out the details for the Coronado/ Gorgona area cleanups. If you would like to participate in this event check back for the contact of a local coordinator.
The event is a joint effort by the National Association for the Conservation of Nature (ANCON), Foundation for the Protection of the Panama Sea (Promar), the Ministry of Environment (MiAmbiente), Autoridad de Aseo (AUDD), among other entities and private companies.
