Sea-Spirations Paintings Now in Coronado
B. Chrisse Harwanko, an American painter, is showing two original paintings from her Sea-Spirations Series, that is gathering attention around the world.
B. Chrisse Harwanko (b.1952), an American painter, is best known for her Expressionistic Sea-Spirations Series. She utilizes a flowing blend of bright colored acrylics and interesting textures in her art. The wavelike movement of her poetic artwork with elements of the sea draw you in close to find unique, hidden interpretations of marine life.
“One of my greatest joys in life is doing or creating something new. I feel my soul enriched when I explore a new dive site, hike a different trail or create a new painting. Creating art is a meditative process for me. I get lost in the colors, textures, and movements of the sea while painting. It is from this centered place that I grow both creatively and spiritually.”
An admiration and love for the sea inspire Harwanko to preserve Earth’s vast and precious marine resource. The dreamlike forms that transpire from the fluid paint mixtures represent the tenuous time that remains to enjoy the marvels of the sea.
As an avid scuba diver/underwater photographer and painter living in Panama, Harwanko hopes that through showing the sea’s majestic beauty, more people will be aware of its fragility and the need to safeguard it.
“Scientists tell us that both creating and observing art has the effect of changing the physiology of our brains. Hopefully my art will create a response that I wish to achieve – to respect, love and protect Mother Sea.”
Harwanko has a BA in Art (University of Delaware). Her paintings can be found in collections worldwide. She has received numerous awards in her 46 years of painting.
"Aquatic Convergence" and "Pelican’s Reach" are now on display at Coronado Frame in Coronado. Hours of Operation, Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
