World Bank invests in Cultural Industries for Casco Antiguo

newsnviews2.jpg(panamacascoviejo.wordpress.com) An ambitious project is being launched by the World Bank and the Oficina del Casco Antiguo creation and promotion of cultural industries only in the Casco. Of course, as Casco Antiguo is the second touristic destination (but only after the Panama Canal) this makes a world of sense: cultural activities and tourism in many other countries represent an amazing percentage of their economy and Casco Viejo in Panama is in the best position to develop them.

The project will be in different phases. The idea would be to attract cultural entrepreneurs to Casco Antiguo, art schools and artisans. The Office of Casco Antiguo will launch the first calling for applicants and cultural proposals soon. So far, they have already signed an agreement with Fundes, which would provide business guidance to the entrepreneurs.
