2018 Semana Santa traffic begins!

It is Semana Santa in Coronado Panama, you can tell by the traffic! There will also be an increase in gas prices.

Starting today at noon, (Thursday, Mar 29th)  the National Police will invert lanes on the highway from the city to the interior starting at the bridges of the Americas to Arraiján. They will also invert another lane from La Espiga de La Chorrera to Campana. This operation will start from 12:00 till to 6:00 pm.

During high traffic holidays in Coronado Panama, like Semana Santa cones are placed on the highway at "returnos" (U-turns), prohibiting turnarounds at major intersections like Coronado, Punta Barco, Punta Chame etc. Several U-turns will be open and monitored by the National Police of Panama. 

To add to the traffic chaos, prices of fuel is going up as 6:00 am on Friday morning! So make sure to gas up today. Motorists heading for the interior for Easter weekend will face an increase in fuel prices starting at 6 a.m. on Good Friday, says the National Secretariat of Energy.

The price hike is significant (almost 16 cents) 95 octane will rise to 84 cents, The 91 octane to $0.806. Low sulfur diesel will increase to  $ 0.721.

These prices take effect Friday, March 30 and will be valid until April 13.
