Shrimp fishing ban in effect

The Water Resources Authority of Panama (ARAP) announced on Thursday that it will carry out inspections o guarantee compliance with the total ban on the fishing of shrimp (of any species) in Panama.

The Authority says that during the ban, the commercialization of shrimp without the visual inspection as well as the safe transport certificate is prohibited.

"For the sale, possession or deposit of all kinds of shrimp,  all institutions such as hotels, restaurants, processing plants, shrimp farms and shrimp larval production centers, must obtain their respective visual inspection certificate, which authorizes them for such purposes during the closure period, "said an official statement.
