More than 15,000 polleras will be featured at  the Las Tablas parade

Saturday, January 13 in the city of Las Tablas, province of Los Santos is where regional artisans will be able to show their creative talents.

The general administrator of the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP), Gustavo Him, announced that 109 delegations have registered and that he expects the parade to start punctually at 1:00 p.m

Him acknowledged that, in addition to financially benefiting the area, "the culture and folklore of our region is being strengthened."

The Parade of the Thousand Polleras will be led by Samy and Sandra Sandoval, well-known artists in typical Panamanian music.

Him stressed that in 2018 the ATP is advertising at the international level not only the Parade of the Thousand Polleras and the Carnival, but all the national fairs, film and jazz festivals, and other events promoting Panama.  Little by little, we have been bringing in more tourists.

Frank Pinilla, head of the Police Zone of Los Santos, said that security operations started several days ago. He added that they have 300 support units from the capital city, and will have another 300 units in the province. Pinilla said that it is forbidden to use glass containers, blunt objects, and firecrackers.  He stressed that there will be five safety rings to safeguard the participants of the parade, taking into account the value of the garments.
