Sailing from Panama to Colombia

newsnviews2.jpg(costaricapages.com) The beauty of having once been a backpacker myself, I know that backpackers always find the best deals in any city. While living in Panama City I have become a bit lax about budgeting. Yet recently I stayed in a hostel in Bocas and those old feelings came back to me, thus I thought I’d get in touch with my backpacker roots and do a little exploration of Panama City hostels.

While searching online I came upon the most interesting deal offered at the website of a Panama City hostel, Mamallena Backpackers. Mamallena has a page dedicated on their site for their guests who are looking to sail to Cartegena Colombia.

For nearly the same price as flying those daring souls who wish to sail enjoy 2-3 days first in the San Blas Islands. While in San Blas, snorkling, swimming and relaxing on the sail boat is encouraged. This provides an excellent opportunity to see the Kuna Indians and explore some of the islands, there are 365 in total!

From San Blas it takes two days sailing to arrive in Cartagena. The cost of the trip differs depending on the boat and captain, but prices are generally from $275-300 per person, which includes three meals a day and immigration fees.
