U.S travelers to experience more delays
Traveling to the U.S from Panama sometime soon? Be sure to arrive early! Passengers traveling from Panama to the United States have reported that it now takes longer to get through security in Panama if you are traveling to the United States.
According to a statement issued by Alfredo Fonseca Mora, director of the Civil Aeronautics Authority, travelers flying to the US should arrive at Tocumen International Airport three hours before takeoff because of US security.
Recently a set of new security measures have implemented by the United States Department of Homeland Security for flights from 105 countries, one of the 105 countries is Panama.
Fonseca Mora said that the new measures are being applied worldwide because the US is working to increase the safety levels of in bound flights.
Some of the measures that Panama will adopt include, more rigorous reviews of travelers, the review of electronic devices and increased security protocols on and around the aircraft. There will also be an installation of new equipment.
Travelers fear that the increased surveillance will make boarding flights an even slower process in Panama, causing these flights to depart even later, increasing the chance of missed connections.
