Meeting in English to explain the New Accusatory System
On Friday, June 23rd at 9:30 a.m. the Personera (DA) will hold a meeting at the Casa Communal in Gorgona to explain the new accusatory system in Panama.
The meeting will be held in English. According to a report by Jim Rizik At the last meeting, certain questions were not answered, for this reason, the DA has agreed to hold this special meeting in English to answer these questions.
The Accusatory system works to prevent detention without conviction - unless a perpetrator is caught in the act, an investigation must occur before they are convicted of that crime. The new system aims to increase efficiency in the Panamanian justice system.
President Juan Carlos Varela reiterated his commitment to implement the Accusatory Penal System throughout the country during the inauguration of the First Congress of Prosecutors of Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean in Panama.
