Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Coronado Panama

Friday, March 17th is St. Patrick’s Day, and it is not just for the Irish! Celebrated around the world St. Pat’s day is a great day enjoy to Irish food, music and dancing, even on the beaches of Coronado Panama.

Wear your green clothes and shamrocks today because there will be people at the beach celebrating the Patron Saint of Ireland, with special menu’s, music and events. Here is what is happening in Coronado for St. Patrick's Day this year.

Cafe Caracoles is offering a 3 course St. Patrick’s themed menu all day for $16.50 that includes Guinness Irish strew or Cottage Pie as a main.There are also several Irish cocktails available starting at $4.00

This evening there will be live music at the Coronado Irish Pub, The Blarney Stone. Enjoy a show from Jim Votaw and friends: Andy Egert and John Carney. There is no cover charge.

Looking to celebrate the Patron Saint of Ireland from home? Try making this traditional Irish Strew!

Here is what you need:
2 lbs beef stew meat
2 15-ounce cans tomato sauce
1 15-ounce can diced tomatoes
3 carrots, peeled and cut into hunks
1 onion, chopped
1 cup sliced celery
1 clove garlic, diced
1/2 cup dry red wine
1 bay leaf
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
2 potatoes, enough to make 2 cups peeled and cut up
1 cup frozen peas.

Preparing Irish Stew
1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F.
2. Put everything except for the potatoes and peas in a dutch oven or oven-safe dish. Cover the pot with foil or an oven safe lid. Bake for 4 hours.

3. Add the potatoes and turn the oven up to 350 degrees F. Bake for 45 more minutes and then add the peas. Bake 15 minutes more.
