Aguadulce celebrates 168 years

Aguadulce, in the province of Cocle, is celebrating its 168th anniversary today, Wednesday, October 19th, 2016. Aguadulce was founded on October 19th, 1848, by the Provincial Chamber of Panama, which separated the district from Nata. Currently, the district has a population of approximately 45 thousand inhabitants. Aguadulce the  “Tierra de la sal y el azúcar” or in English “the land of salt and sugar” is known for its two main commercial products, sugar and salt.

 

An event honoring six people who have contributed greatly to the region took place during the Solemn Session of the City Council of Aguadulce, at the communal hall.

A native of Villa de Los Santos, José del C. Gutierrez, who owns a tailor shop in the village of El Roble de Aguadulce was among the six honored.
At the age of 69 years old Gutierrez is satisfied with his achievement, his work has helped educate their daughters and provides a quality service in the community. A community which he feels has adopted him as one of their own.
