Heavy rain creates clean water shortages

While it might seem paradoxical, heavy rain has left over 22,000 people in Penonomé without water since Sunday, September 11th. The lack of water is due to the flooding of the Zarati River in Penonomé, which has affected the ability for the treatment plant to effectively treat the community's water supply.

Yesterday, Monday, September 12th, Idaan reported that the flooding has caused problems in the plant’s pumps and that staff is working to clean the mud and debris from the intake valves in order to solve the problem.
