Was the death of Elibeth Zentner an accident?
A protest took place yesterday August 17th in front to the Supreme Court Justice in Ancon. Relatives and friends of Elibeth Zentner, who died in 2012 in Coronado in what has been called a “confusing incident”, gathered demanding justice.
Four years later, many are still seeking to uncover the truth about what really happened to Zentner that night in Coronado. On August 27, 2012 37 year-old Elibeth died from trauma to the left side of her head after allegedly falling from a moving car while her husband drove through Coronado.
Relatives of Zentner ask that the Public Ministry and Panamanian justice system consider that the testimony given by the husband (the only witness) contradicts the forensic reports.
In his testimony, the spouse said he did not realize she had fallen from the vehicle until he was several meters ahead.
Federico Zentner, father of the victim led the protest asking that the murder of his daughter not go unpunished.
Up until now the Second Circuit Court of La Chorrera has opened a criminal case, filing charges of culpable homicide on January 6, 2014, however the Zentner family feels the case should be handled as a murder.
With inconsistencies between the data provided by the Institute of Legal Medicine and what the spouse has told authorities, Federico Zentner believes that his daughter's death was not an accident, but a murder.
Her spouse alleges that his wife was looking at houses in the passenger seat (right side) to get ideas for the remodeling of their house while he looked at the houses on the driver side (left). When he turned to say something to Elibeth, he discovered she was not in her seat. The experts noted that the car door had opened and closed at the time Elibeth supposedly fell. However, they also noted that if Elibeth were to fall from that position, it would cause injury to the right side of her head, and not the left.
Elibeth left behind 3 children.
