Meetings to Install Overpass at Coronado Intersection

In a recent Coronado Residence Association Bulletin the community association announced that they had coordinated meetings with Juan Carlos Arango, representative and president of the Commission of Infrastructure and National Assembly along with Mr. Orestes del Rio of the ATTT Agency in La Chorrera.

These meetings aim to develop a plan to create an overpass for traffic entering and exiting the highway at the busy Coronado intersection. The overpass would help alleviate traffic problems and accidents that often occur. In the meeting officials will also discuss the placement of “cat eyes” (makers indicating that drivers must reduce their speed approaching the Coronado entrance) along with plastic barriers which stop drivers from making illegal U-turns.

So far efforts have been made to reduce accidents through the installation of plastic barriers prohibiting traffic from crossing the highway when leaving Coronado. When entering Coronado coming from the city plastic barriers direct traffic to continue into Coronado, prohibiting U-turns at this intersection.

Furthermore the director of the ATTT has promised to assign two units to patrol the area, and issue fines for vehicles making illegal U-Turns between Punta Barco and Coronado on weekends.
