Community Police Appreciation Day

Photo - Bob Hislop  On February 20, 2016 at 11 am in the Town of Gorgona Park, Mayor Nieves Mayorga and Representante Carlos Reyna opened up the ceremonies of the first annual Community Police to Appreciation Day.

The day is an annual event that celebrates family, community and our emergency services in the Pacific beach area. Present were many vendors, members of Panama's National Police, Bomberos, civil protection, health department and among others. The event started with folkloric dancing from the Town of Gorgona and an introduction to the National Police.

The day continued with events, including bands and a fantastic presentation by the National Police K-9. Soccer games were conducted throughout the day between local teams. A raffle offered those in attendence a chance to win one of the many prizes donated by the business community.

The police gave children ATV rides and provided a moon bounce for the kids. Kids activities included bobbing for apples, three legged races and face painting.

The day was not complete without a softball game between the Police and the community, which ended in a 6-6 tie.

Community Police Appreciation organizers would like to thank all the volunteers, donaters and businesses for their support in this annual event.
